Counselling for Trauma Using Brainspotting and Somatic Therapy

Heal at the source. Regulate your nervous system. Reclaim your life.

If you've experienced trauma — whether recent, complex, or long past — your nervous system holds the imprint. Counselling for trauma combines Brainspotting, mindfulness, neurobiological insight, and somatic practices to gently release stored distress and support deep healing.

What Is Trauma-Informed Therapy?

Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind — it lives in the body. You may find yourself feeling anxious, stuck, overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected without fully understanding why. Trauma-informed counselling recognizes the impact of trauma on your brain, body, and relationships and provides a safe, compassionate space to begin healing.

What Is Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-body based therapeutic technique that helps access unprocessed trauma stored in the subcortical brain — the part that governs survival responses.

By locating “brainspots” connected to emotional and somatic activation, clients can process and release trauma gently, without needing to retell painful stories. This technique can be especially effective for:

  • PTSD and complex trauma

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression and emotional numbness

  • Chronic pain and somatic symptoms

  • Phobias and fears

  • Performance anxiety

  • Dissociation or hypervigilance

How This Therapy Helps

Using an integrative trauma-informed approach, sessions may include:

  • Brainspotting to bypass talk and engage the brain-body healing system directly

  • Mindfulness techniques to build present-moment safety and self-awareness

  • Somatic regulation strategies to release stress stored in the body

  • Neurobiological education to help you understand your brain’s response to trauma

Resourcing and grounding to build internal safety and resilience

  • You feel emotionally flooded or shut down in stressful situations

  • You avoid certain people, places, or memories

  • You experience chronic anxiety, irritability, or hypervigilance

  • You feel detached from your body or like you're “not yourself”

  • You’ve had therapy before, but still feel stuck
